Stamped Concrete for Phoenix Homes

Stamped concrete gives you the look of slate, flagstone or wood plank in a single poured slab. Color goes into the mix or onto the surface, and mats press the texture in while the concrete is still workable.

Timing is everything on a stamped pour, and Phoenix heat shortens the window. We schedule decorative pours early in the day and bring enough hands to stamp before the surface sets.

Decorative finishes follow a different rule in the right-of-way. Phoenix's driveway policy says concrete finishes other than rough broom, over 10.5 feet in the right-of-way, need a maintenance agreement from the Street Transportation Department. We often stop the stamped section at the property line and run a broom-finished apron to the street.

Stamped & Decorative Concrete Questions

Is stamped concrete slippery?

It can be when wet if it's sealed with a glossy sealer. We add a grit additive to the sealer for patios, steps and pool areas.

Does stamped concrete crack?

Stamped concrete is still concrete, so it needs control joints. We hide joints in the pattern lines where we can.

How often should stamped concrete be resealed?

It depends on sun and traffic. Phoenix sun breaks down sealer faster on south and west exposures, so we look at your site and recommend a schedule.

Can you stamp a driveway?

Yes. The section inside the street right-of-way has its own rules in Phoenix, so we usually finish that part with a broom texture.
